  • Really Super Neat Story!!!

My Grandpa loves to forward jokes, videos, pictures, stories and anything else that he gets through email, this is a really neat story that he forwarded to me... It truly is amazing how God works, we serve such an AWESOME God!!!!!

A man from Norfolk , VA called a local radio station to share this on September 11th, 2003, 2 years after the tragedies of 9/11/01.
His name was Robert Matthews. These are his words:

A few weeks before Sept. 11th, my wife and I found out we were going to have our first child. She planned a trip out to California to visit her sister.  On our way to the airport, we prayed that God would grant my wife a safe trip and be with her. Shortly after I said 'amen,' we both
Heard a loud pop and the car shook violently. We had blown out a tire. I replaced the tire as quickly as I could, but we still missed her flight. Both very upset, we drove home.

I received a call from my father who was retired NYFD. He asked what my wife's flight number was, but I explained that we missed the flight

My father informed me that her flight was the one that crashed into the southern tower. I was too shocked to speak. My father also had more news for me; he was going to help. 'This is not something I can't just sit by for; I have to do something.'

I was concerned for his safety, of course, but more because he had never given his life to Christ. After a brief debate, I knew his mind was made up..  Before he got off of the phone, he said, 'take good care of my grandchild.  Those were the last words I ever heard my father say; he died while helping in the rescue effort.

My joy that my prayer of safety for my wife had been answered quickly became anger. I was angry at God, at my father, and at  myself. I had gone for nearly two years blaming God for taking my father away. My son would never know his grandfather, my father had never accepted Christ, and I never got to say good-bye.

Then something happened. About two months ago, I was sitting at home with my wife and my son, when there was a knock on the  door. I looked at my wife, but I could tell she wasn't expecting anyone. I opened the door to a couple with a small child.

The man looked at me and asked if my father's name was Jake Matthews. I told him it was. He quickly grabbed my hand and said, 'I never got the chance to meet your father, but it is an honor to meet his son.'

He explained to me that his wife had worked in the World Trade Center and had been caught inside after the attack. She was pregnant and had been caught under debris. He then explained that my father had been the one to find his wife and free her.  My eyes welled up with tears as I thought of my father giving his life for people like this. He then said, 'there is something else you need to know.'

His wife then told me that as my father worked to free her, she talked to him and led him to Christ. I began sobbing at the news..

Now I know that when I get to Heaven, my father will be standing beside Jesus to welcome me, and that this family would be able to thank him themselves .

When their baby boy was born, they named him Jacob Matthew, in honor of the man who gave his life so that a mother and baby could live.

This story should help us to realize this: God is always in control.

We may not see the reason behind things, and we may never know this side of heaven, but God is ALWAYS in control.

Please take time to share this amazing story.  You may never know the impact it may have on someone.  God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good.  His love endures Forever.  Psalm 136:1

The Lord has been working in ways in my life that I don't understand but am trying to really trust Him and seek His face alone, which is sometimes easier said than done. Once we give our life to Christ surrendering to Him and His will, we have to trust that whatever He takes us through is for our own good. God is not worried about what happens to us or what He has to bring us through (though He does protect and care for us through them), His main goal and desire is to bring us to Himself and He will take us through whatever He has to in order to get us to that point! We have to think about what we were created for, fellowship with our Father! I love to read anything and everything by Oswald Chambers and have recently been reading "Conformed To His Image" & "The Servant As His Lord" (both are really good)! The Lord has used them to help me in my thinking, showing me some things about myself that my pride really didn't want to see! My pride is something that doesn't ever want to be told what to do or that for goodness sake it is wrong  ! I thought that I would put a quote that spoke to me from the book "Conformed To His Image" on here to share with whoever reads this.....

"We are not responsible for the circumstances we are in, but we are responsible for the way we allow those circumstances to affect us; we can either allow them to get on top of us or we can allow them to transform us into what God wants us to be. If we go under in circumstances we are held responsible because God has promised an absolutely overcoming Spirit to any man who will receive Him. If you are at a loss to know how to get at what God wants you to be, listen to the Lord Jesus. It's as though He said, "If you ask God He will plant in you the very Spirit that is in Me" (Luke 11:13). If you receive the Holy Spirit you find that circumstances will never have power to do anything but give you the chance of sacrificing the natural to the spiritual and proving you are a son or daughter of God." ~ Oswald Chambers

It is so true that we can't control our circumstances, but it is our responsibility to ask for the power that comes from God to do what He wants us to do in those circumstances, and our Father Who is able and wants to give us that power will give it the second we ask!!!

  • A Poem...

Here is a poem that my Grandpa sent to me that I thought I would share with all of you! It is quite humorous, but also makes you think...

     Heaven's Door

    I was shocked, confused, bewildered
    As I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor..
But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp--
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
    The alcoholics and the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
    Who never said anything nice.

    Herb, who I always thought
    Was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
    Looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, 'What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How'd all these sinners get up here?
    God must've made a mistake.

    'And why's everyone so quiet,
So somber - give me a clue.'
'Hush, child,' He said, 'they're all in shock.....
No one thought they'd be seeing you..'

    JUDGE NOT..

Remember...Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car .

Every saint has a PAST... Every sinner has a FUTURE

"Do not judge lest you be judged. For in the way you judge, you shall be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1 & 2

  • Post make-up!

Hello to all who read this! This is a make-up post for all the times that I didn't post and should have! I'm not going to make up any excuses or apologize for why I haven't posted, except to say that God has been working in my life! The last time I posted was almost a year ago, and I didn't want it to reach a year since a post, sooo here is the "make-up" post...

Happy Birthday to... Matt, Dad, Jonathan, Benjamin, Caleb, Dominic, Liz, Tony, Mom, Stephanie, and Caitlin (all birthdays in our family that have past since my last post)! I love you all so much and thank God always for blessing me with such a great family!

Happy Anniversary to Mom and Dad (on September 25)... I love you both so much! Thanks for always being a great example to all us kids!

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

    Merry Christmas!!!

    Happy New Year!!!

    Happy Valentines Day!!!

    Happy St. Patricks Day!!!

    Happy Easter!!!

Happy Memorial Day!!!  (I think those are all the holidays that have past since my last post?! If I'm missing any, you fill in the blank, Happy...)

A lot has happened this past almost year, God has really been working in my life! It's so funny how life can get so busy and seem so hard for us sometimes and yet God looks down and says..."My child, don't worry about a thing, it's really so simple, give it to Me I'll handle it! Here, trust Me, just take My hand and I'll show you..."! Life can be so simple, easy, and carefree if we just do as our Lord asks...trust and obey! And yet it's the simple things that can seem so hard to do sometimes! I'm so thankful that my God has patience!!!

    Keep your eyes looking upward...

About Me

  • I want every person who comes to this xanga to know that I am a follower of Jesus Christ, I have put my trust in Him alone for salvation, I love Him with all my heart, I strive daily to further my personal relationship with Him, though I stumble daily in my walk with Him, He is faithful when I am not, He picks me up when I fall, He gives me strength when I am weak. God wants my heart to be completely His alone, so that is my goal in life: to be completely His! Without Christ I am nothing! I am the fourth born of twelve children, the oldest living at home (and love being home), the first child with blonde hair (ha, ha to Stephanie, j/k), my parents favorite child (right mom and dad?), I love my family, and I love the life that God has given me! I am a female and love being so! I love to sing with my sisters, it's a ton of fun! And I love to use exclamation points!!! I think everything in life is exciting and exclamation points help me to say so!!!!!!! =)
